Web Portfolio

I have experience with languages like HTML, CSS, Sass JavaScript, PHP, and MySQL. Also developer tools like Apache, AWS, Git, Grunt, NPM, Composer, and Codeship.

I like bright colors and refined details. I love a good style guide, giving me plenty of design direction to operate within. I have strong opinions about good development practices that are loosely held.

Ongoing Education

While not engaged in active projects, I spend time enhancing my skills. Here are some recent courses I’ve enjoyed:

Projects with Launch Brigade

  • Cloud Brigade: Took ownership of a long-running project and polished it up to launch.
  • The Armchair Historian: Wrote HTML+CSS from scratch using mobile-first approach to create a static, responsive site that requires no frameworks.
  • Owlcam: Ran a full battery of QA testing on this website in a broad range of browsers and fix issues with design and functionality.
  • Visit Santa Cruz: Modified The Events Calendar WordPress plugin to suit the clients’ needs and customization requests.

With Plugin Alliance

I was involved in many projects at Plugin Alliance, from server configuration to front-end design work. Some, I was solely responsible for and others were collaborative with teammates in development, marketing, design, and customer support.

  • Switched from a single dedicated server for web and database roles to cloud-based scalable infrastructure at AWS
  • Created build pipeline for continuous deployment
  • Designed and built customer reviews functionality for existing CMS
  • Improved developer workflow with Grunt and Composer
  • Integrated automated emails using the Mandrill API
  • Countless changes to the website, improving the customer experience
  • Migrated from Subversion to Git

Grace Immersion

I created this companion site for a weekly sermon series with daily readings using HTML+CSS and PHP while working at Twin Lakes Church.
